I have been in the process of choosing an amp for a long time now and I've decided on marshall but I dont know what amp I want. I am willing to spend upto like 700 dollars and I know that most marshalls cost alot more than I have. I went to guitar center and played a few different amps I played the mg250dfx and sounded good then somme guy told me I should try the Avt series, He said they had more "oomph" I was just wondering which series you guys would recomend the mg avt or whatever else they have, but remember I want a combo amp not a half stack, high gain, at least 100watts and footswitchable channels. Would you guys recomend the mg250dfx cause its in my price range and its pretty loud.

by the way does anyone in here know where I can get the tab book for the michael angelo starlicks video?

I think the AVT100 is within the price range you mentioned , and it smokes the mg series.

You can get Michael Angelo's DVD + Tab Book from here.

Carvin has good combo amps (all tube even) that are in your price range.

man...for 700 bucks, find yourself a nice used Marshall Tube combo...JCM 900 or something, they have balls and drive...not the highest gain but have plenty of backbone...if you're looking for high gain, just buy a decent OD pedal and mix it with the marshall crunch, it'll sound way better than solid state, especially if you're planning on cranking most the time. You'll be much happier with it in the long run in my opinion. Check 'em out, worth the time, see how you like them.

I havent ever played a mesa boogie are they reall that much better than marshall? If they have the high gain Im looking for in a combo amp I would want to check em out. I would totaly want a jcm 900 but I dont know where IM gonna find a used jcm for 700, unless any of you guys got one to sell. And by the way I want to be able to play at low levels in my room and stuff too so its not always gonna be cranked up.
