What's so great about Led Zepplin?
I'm not so well acquainted with the rock history and its heroes that made em'. Heck, I only found out about Guns and Roses after reading posts saying how great Slash is. So name some good Led Zepplin classics for me to marvel at :)

Hmm.. hardest question I've ever had to answer. :roll eyes: Any song by led zepplein is kick a$$. I'd go with anything off of the "Led Zepplelin IV" album, just because every song on that album is a hit. Stairway to heaven, Whole Lotta love, Dazed and Confused, The Lemon Song (great bass and guitar work). I'm not gonna bother listing anymore cause the list won't end.

Some people don't like thier style buy "stairway to heaven" is a song everyone like, and it has a great solo.

But Stairway isn't there best song. I think Dazed and Confused beats alot of songs, and their version of "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" is awesome.

well john has got to be one of the top 5 best drummers ever jimi page is one of the best guitar players ever and nobody can come close to singing like robert plant but u guys missed a really good song to list "MOBY DICK" is one of my fav zep songs and on the live cd with the 15min drum solo is great

Nice to hear you guys think Zep rock but you're all forgetting the question.....whats so great about them? The way they inspired the generations that came after them, the way they had stage presence few others could match and the way they could work together on stage effortlessly and create music that sounded like nobody elses and 30 years on from their first record people are still discovering their music and talking about the on internet forums.......

They pretty much started the whole Hard Rock thing. You gotta remember before '68 the Beatles were the thing. And although they were great they weren't exactly hard rock and they didn't have that "ATTITUDE". That's what I think made them legendary. You gotta remember things that they laided down in the late 60's and 70's is still being used today. Not too many bands have influenced music the way Led Zeppelin did.

I'm not a fan of Jimmy's "Shredding" solos, but I like the more meaningful stuff they produced.
Personally, i don't think they are that great, but just a good band.

I wouldnt say Led Zeppelin invented hard-rock. Long before they appeared in scene, the Beatles and other bands had been creating that "new sound".

I have the first four Led Zeppelin albums (given to me), what other ones do you suggest?
Although they are not straight blues rock, its very blues influenced.

Well I guess your kind of right. Nope, those are the best albums pretty much. Their last stuff wasn't that great.

I always liked Presence. A lot of people say they don't like it but you have to sit and listen to it a ton of times to really appreciate the bareness of it and what the guitar is doing to fill in the holes.
At one point in the good ole 70's, that and Frampton Comes Alive were the only two 8 track tapes we had to listen to while cruising around in the old Pinto.
