Hey!

Uh, maybe I missed something, can anybody tell me why it's an F#-minor chord and not an F-minor in the key of D-minor? I'm to music theory what Ken Hamm is to evolutionary therory, so please dumb it down (but not all the way).

Thanks!

Where did you see this? From what I can see, F#m is in the key of D (as in D Major, not D minor). I think you are right to be puzzled.

Uh... Yeah!

I apologize for the clumsily-worded question and thank you for responding, but I figured it out.

Cheers!

Neither. It's an F major chord. Here are the chords formed by triad harmonization of the D minor scale/key.

D minor - i chord
E diminished - ii dim chord
F major - bIII chord
G minor - iv chord
A minor - v chord
B-flat major - bVI chord
C major - bVII chord

Hope this helps!
