I've read some good reviews on the squire vintage modified SSS stratocaster. I'm going to a music shop to look at one today. The price is right for me,and I'm just starting to learn blues.

I have read a lot about it,and it seems like a good guitar for the money. If any of you have one,let me know what you think of it.

Just curious,I'll probably buy one if it feels good in my hands...

Looks nice & has good reviews, too. The Cedar body is an interesting thing. I have a Squier that I just love since I upgraded the pups and some other stuff. I don't think you'll go wrong with this!

I looked up the specs. Sounds like they have really upgraded Squier products.

Well,I went to the store and tried the squire. The sound was very good, they did plug it into a sizable amp though..

The fingering was...well....awesome....they had only the olympic white model, but it looks better than it's net picture.

Fit and finish was excellent, surprisingly well done for a guitar of this price. So...... I layed it away..since I didn't have the cash at this time... :(

I'll pick it up as soon as I can, because I did NOT want to put this puppy down.. :D

The whole deal was 387.00. That was with a hard case,20 ft cord, new strings, set up and intonation, and tax.

I play for fun and I'm happy with the squire modified vintage SSS...I'll be even happier when it's home... :D

I think I done purty good...

Great news! :D

After you've had it for a month of so, please write up a review and post it.

Plenty. Everyone has a perspective. If you're just starting to learn the blues, I bet you'll have a few things you've fiddled with and will be able to relay how your early journey has gone using the instrument.

...and for the record, the pick up position for the near ultimate bluesy (a la SRV) tone is the middle position between the neck and middle pick up. It gets that throaty honk and less buzz. In case you didn't already know that...

I picked up my squire strat and got it home, plugged it in,it won't play. Ok,so the cheap chord they threw in maybe bad...the end was loose...tightened it up...nothing..tried a different chord nothing...messed with volume switch...turned it back and forth several times...a little bit of sound..very low volume.. :(

I called the store, they said to bring it back in,they would take care of it. Since this one was last years stock,I think the volume control is dirty,or gone bad...it worked okay when I tried it before I layed it away a month ago... :(

Should I ask for a new guitar, this was the last one they had in stock...get my money back,or let them fix it..

This is so not cool.... :( I woke up dis mornin'.... :(

...My dog had died...

Let them fix it. You might be able to have them give it a set up as well.

If everything worked when you put it away, it might have just been a bad cord anyway.

This is being plugged into the PA thing you were plugging your ovation into? Have you tried that cord?

Man, that's freaking disappointing, eh? :(

Well, the problem was my equipment. I need to buy a foot pedal to make it work. It seems the squire needs a pre amp to make it play,I didn't have one. Duh. I don't know anything about amps and sound systems...

I'm glad I know what the worry was anyway...

I think if you are going to spend money, (imo) you should buy an amp instead of adapting that PA. That Squire should work with a regular amp, right? If you want da Blues, a nice little Fender VibroChamp XD would fit ya real nice. :)

Hi guys, Just a few words about Squiers (notice the spelling). :) I'm also learning to play the Blues and have a custard coloured custom (woo! aliteration) tele made in Indonesia. The action is a little high but I'm going to fix that as soon as I can get to our nearest town and buy a 6 sided whatdjacallit. I use 10 - 46 strings (09s feel a bit slimy to me) and the neck mic which gives a sweet jazz/blues sound. I have played fender strats (American and Japanese) in my pop/jazz and reagge bands but as I am a straight into the amp guy (no pedals) and am learning to play solo the strat sounds a bit thin. Anyway what it comes down to is this; don't get hung up on the country or the name. Try it, test it, feel it. Listen to it first without plugging it in (if it doesn't rock without an amp, it won't rock with one). If it loves you, love it back. The rewards will be instantaneous. Shuffle on dudes.
