So, I had a job interview today at safeway... yep, I'm going to be starting next week apparently, so long as my drug test comes back fine (which it better, seeing as I haven't done any drugs... like ever) but yeah, so, I guess you all know where I'm going with this right??? NEW FRICKEN GEAR!!!! lol. ok, now this is the part where you congratulate me, again! first you had to congratulate me on graduating, then on my new guitar, then on going to college, now this... lol

in other news, you can also congratulate me on getting an A on my spanish test, only 4 people in the class got an A, I was one

You had to have a drug test for working at Safeway??
I woulnd't do a drug test for any employer. Especially if it involved peeing in a cup in front of somebody.
It's nobody's business what a guy does in his free time.

it's pretty much the law, they have to screen you for drugs before you can work there... also, I didn't have to pee in a cup, it was some wierd thing where I stuck this thing in my mouth on my cheek for two minutes, then he put it into some kind of container, and closed it up to be sent to a lab or something I guess...

"courtesy clerk" basically I bag the groceries, and take people's groceries out to their car for them. and help them load it...woo hoo... but for $7.25/hour, it's not bad

I want to get a couple of things right away, a practice amp (probably going to be a line 6 spider II 30W, maybe the 15W version if I can find one at my local shop) a digital multitrack recorder (for hopefully better sound quality then going straight into my comp's stock, cheap, sound card) a bass guitar (so that my recordings aren't 100% electric guitar) a drum machine (for the same reason as a bass, but only if the mulitrack that I get doesn't already have one built in, like those boss ones I've been looking at) and i want to completely hotrod my old ibanez. and after I've got all that, then I'm not really sure, probably a couple effects pedals.

That's a DNA test and has nothng to do with a drug screen.
You should have the right to refuse a test and you should check the various legal ramifications of them taking DNA tests.

Man... if I was subjected to that kinda crap I'd tell em to go f#** themselves.

Especially for a low pay job like Safeway.

Personally, I'd contact a lawyer and have him look into it. Something's awful weird about taking DNA swabs from low level employees at a supermarket.

Congratulations on getting a job. My only advice would be.... Don't be too quick to throw your money away on stuff. Be sure you put some back for a rainy day. You never know when you may really need it. Learn to be a saver now, and it will be a lot easier on you when you get older. Set you up a budget! Something like...

$_____ for food
$_____ for gas (for whenever you get a car)
$_____ for bills
$_____ savings

--------------------

Anything left over can go here:

$_____ gear fund
$_____ pocket money / miscellanious

It might take longer to save for the stuff you want, but needs outway wants any day of the week. Plus, you'll know where your money is going, and wont have to worry if you'll have enough for this or that.

Sorry if I put a damper on your excitement, but I wish i had had someone tell/teach me this when I was your age. Just some friendly advice. ;)

Way to go dude. That's sucky about the drug test, but no worries as you don't do them. Good Luck!

honestly, I really don't care about the drug test, it doesn't bother me at all, I don't do drugs, so I've got nothing to worry about, and it's pretty much law that you have to submit to a drug test, otherwise they have the right to refuse giving you a job... and since I applyed at like 20 different places and only one actually called me for an interview, I'm not going to throw that one away
