Powerful Riffs

Description

Let's max out a progression using many power chords, muting, accents and a longer phrase for our riff. This one's more of a challenge than some lessons, but this is what you want to work toward. This is the kind of progression you'd find onstage with Reba McEntire or Trace Adkins.

Watch your pick hand. That's the key to making this work. You'll find as we go through more complex ideas that the pick hand is what really shapes a riff. This is where all the cool muting and open ideas come from. It's where the rhythm in the riff is generated.
