Here I show you the main scale which can be used on improvisation. It is a combination of the blues scale and the bebop scale with the following intervals 1 2 b3 4 b5 5 b7 7
The exact scales and patterns I show you are my most common choices - but if you learn more patterns or positions you can of course use those as well.
For advanced players : Follow the chords with modes as you wish. They are not part of this tutorial.
F7 : mixolydian
Bb7 : mixolydian
D7 : altered, harmonic minor V, diminished scale
Gm7 : dorian
C7 : mixolydian
