I basically tend to like anything that really pushes the limits of a genre.

Fusion, progrock, prog metal, trip hop, hard swing, yeah. Good stuff.

I mean, I have a mixtape of John Coltrane, Miles Davis (late 60s material), and Rush in my tape deck right now, so who knows :P

This is the wrong thread for this, but I'll answer anyways. Indie rock, alternative rock, classic rock, blues, swing, and old school jazz.

Prog Rock (Pink Floyd, Tool, Cog)
Prog Metal (Dream Theater, Symphony X, Opeth)
Classical (Bach, Paganini)
Neo-Classical Shred (Joe Stump)
Classic Rock (Led Zeppelin, Lynyrd Skynyrd)

I also like songs/bands that are in genres that I don't particularly listen to or like, such as:

Ambient DnB (Aphex Twin)
Hip-Hop, not rapping but mixing records (Katalyst [the only known artist to have a good remix album], Dynamo Productions)
Psychedelic Rock (some Oasis, Radiohead [before the mindless wailing and moaning], Gelbison, Deloris)
Speed Metal (Slayer)
Bluegrass (Hellecasters)
Grindcore (Pig Destroyer, Blood Duster [perhaps better described as porngroove metal])
Punk Rock (The one song by Frenzal Rhomb, 'Russel Crowe's Band'. A very funny, short song. It even has a solo although it's just a simple pentatonic one.)

I could go on about bands that are hard to categorise into genres like Opeth who have a definate death metal sound with the deep growls, heavy distorted riffs and double kick beats but also have wonderful, slow accoustic parts and great, soft singing in many songs that sounds completely opposite to the typical death metal band, such as Cannibal Corpse.

Then there's Tripod who seem quite unique. They're mainly just put into 'Comedy', which doesn't really give them recognition as a band, being grouped in together with funny movie and TV quotes and stand up comedians. They also make many of their songs within an hour. On Triple J (a radio station) they are given three/four/five things to base the song on and given an hour to make it including these things. They are also accoustic so would they be defined as 'Song In An Hour Accoustic Comedy'?

They sterilize needles for lethal injections because they don't want you to go to hell AND have a cold.

I actually found out at a hospital, during work experience, that they rub alcohol onto the arm, not just to sterilize, but because the vein widens and comes closer to the surface. It's then easier to inject.

I guess I should change my signature to another unanswered question.

I canā€™t sing so I sing through my guitar. So when the sound guy says: ā€œYour guitar is too loud!ā€ I think: "Why does he never say that to the vocalist?"

By virtue of their electrical properties, tubes generate a special waveform when they're saturated, which is why tube engineering has tremendous tonal advantages over solid state or DSP solutions, particularly for crunch and lead sounds. Tubes enter the saturation zone gradually or softly, which lends tube-driven tone its trademark yet totally unique character.

Mostly I'm into alternative and indie. My two fav groups are Radiohead and The Pumpkins but i like alot of other genre too. Stuff like rap-rock (Rage), classic rock (Zepplin, Queen) as well as grunge (Pearl Jam, Nirvana) and goth (just starting getting into HIM).

Basicly i like all music, except metal or speed stuff, which puts me apart from just about everyone else here. Anyway...

Not me I don't like speed metal... I don't get it. I used to like Radiohead, but now I think they're kind of... fake. They are either trying too hard to be original and abstract, or they're just not trying at all.

indie rock... my top 3 bands ever are Throwing Muses, Sonic Youth and Royal Trux. i also love Helium, the Pixies, Breeders, Husker Du, Liz Phair back in the day, some Pavement and Yo La Tengo and stuff etc...
grunge... Nirvana, Meat Puppets, Dinosaur Jr
post-punk/goth... the Birthday Party, Bauhaus, Siouxsie, etc
some trip-hop... Massive Attack, mostly, and i like Portishead, Tricky and even Sneaker Pimps. most of the stuff that came after MA was pretty unremarkable though.
and then i like just whatever random stuff i come across that sounds good... everything from Type-O-Negative to Boards of Canada to Dead Can Dance to Le Tigre

heh
i rolled out from under the engine, and i saw her standing there... i knew right then i could love her forever, even when her breasts are rotted with cancer.
