This weekend is the second annual Nashville Amp Expo! I will be attending & having a great time mixing business & pleasure.

http://www.nashvilleampexpo.com/

It's a trade show that is open to the public. You can bring your guitar & play through any & all the exhibitor's gear. Fun stuff. :)

Back after a long weekend! Had a blast. Lots of great players, gear, people. I met a guy in person that I previously "met" on TGP. He was checking out the same guitar maker I was & we tooks turns on some beautiful Soloway machines. He snapped a pic of me geeking out over one of them!

Right below the pic of me is my friend Obeid Khan that designed the Reason Amps line. Had a lot of fun meeting new people & catching up with old friends. :)

Did you get a chance to hear that Metro amp? I thought about building one of those when I was looking for a DIY tube amp... But, it was a bit more than I wanted to spend.

IF I were to do another DIY, It would be the Metro Plexi.

I didn't at this show because I've played their stuff before. IMO, they are incredible. :)

Their motto "The most accurate Plexi Replicas in the world" is accurate for sure. The interesting thing here is how inconsistent the old Marshalls are. But those guys have zeroed in on the best aspects of the best of the old plexi style amps & made that their standard for a consistent design & build.

Quite often you just don't know exactly what you are getting with any given 60-70s Marshall. With a Metro, you know you are getting the best possible Marshall plexi tone.

I was just at their website, their store is not selling the kits anymore... Or at least not right now. If I'm not mistaken, those plexi kits were around $1000. or you can have them build one for you at a ouchie price. However, it would probably be worth it for some folks.
