So I just got back to Memphis the other day after a 5 day stay in my home state of Ohio. Turns out a person can successfully conduct a job search from 750 miles away!! I've lived in Memphis for nearly 3 years , but realized after about 2 that this would never be home and that I'd better be moving back to Ohio before I got further entrenched here! Although it was nice to get out of the past 3 winters, I'm a Buckeye through and through and it's time to move home.

In addition to being plain stoked that I get to move back home, I'm flabbergasted at how fast my career is progressing. If you read the thread I linked to in the previous paragraph, you'll know I've only been out of college for a little over 3 years, yet in this position I'll be making more money than my parents! And I just turned 26 today!! Of course there's more to measuring progress than a salary, but I'm confident that this new position is more along the lines of where I want my career to go.

Anyways, much love to all of my guitar-playing brethren. Thanks for all the support and laughs over the years! Every once and a while I get a great idea of ways to bring us all closer together. Perhaps once I get settled back in, I'll pursue some of those epiphanies.

Very cool Dogg. To what part of Ohio are you moving? And what's your line of work? I'm a chemist/DBA in the SE of Ohio. Good luck with the new job.

I'll be moving to Columbus. I'm a software developer. I went to school at OU in Athens, maybe that's close to where you live? Next I'm going to OSU for the big ol' Masters degree. Good times! :D

So I'm turning in my 2 weeks notice tomorrow and am starting to get nervous as hell! Anyone got some advice or experience here? I hope I'm not treated like a pariah these next two weeks.. I feel a little guilty because we're all so swamped at work anyways and my coworkers will have to absorb all of my projects in addition to maintaining their stuff.. I keep telling myself it's only business, but I still feel a little guilty about what's going down in the morning!

Sure man, been through it myself a few times. Just smile when you talk, explain that it is a career move and nothing personal against the company (even if it is), thank them for the opportunity, promise to continue to give them 100% over the next two weeks and then shake your boss's hand and look him in the eye when you do. They'll respect your decision. Good luck! :)

So...don't keep us in suspense. How did it go today? Nice and calm or fire and brimstone? :)

Hahaha, I'm amazed at how well it went. Our company enjoys pretty low turnover, so this is not that common of an event, but everyone was really supportive. I guess I just go into to many of life's situations expecting the worst! I believe it was even harder because the line between coworkers and friends is very blurry, but yea, A-OK!

What's up y'all? I just wanted to let everyone know I made the move just fine and am still getting settled. It'll take me a bit to get back on here with any regularity. Oh yea, and to anyone about to make a big move my heart goes out to ya. MOVING SUCKS!! I'm tired! I ache!! But I'm back home and that's the most important thing!

Peace be with you...
and also with you.
