Distorsion Pedal

Which brand of distorsion pedals are good

i use a boss metal zone its pretty kick ass if u set it up right lots of guitarist i know who use it have it set up so its a real shreky type sound but go to a guitar shop and try them out cause my ears r different from yours so we would have a different opinion on a good distoriton sound

every one has a different perception of sound
I personnaly use "sansamp" which is not an actual pedal, but it allows me to record directly into my computer, and the sound is huge
I used to have marschall pedals, the "shredmaster" who sounded great through a good amp

I used to think that there was no real difference between distortion, overdrive and fuzz. But after playing and listening to music for a few years now, I've noticed that blues players/70's rockers seem to use overdrive rather that distortion.

I think I prefer the overdrive that is produced by playing your amp at 11 to a metal distortion. It just seems more pure and you can still hear the tone of the guitar.

Don't get me wrong, I love my BOSS MT-2, but I would recommend checking out other pedals first. If you have tons of cash to throw away, check out http://www.fulltone.com, they have a cool overdrive pedal.

i have a Boss DS-1 and love it, and also like the Boss Metal Zone, the DS-!1 is great for 45 dollars

I use a Carl Martin Hot Drive'n'Boost into my Laney LC15R (all tubes!) This gives a natural and progressive distortion for blues playing! use the volume control to change the tone!

personaly i use my zoom 707, or my ibanez session man II pedal, BUT if you like blues, 70's rock or something like that you should do what those guys were doing in the 70's and erlier: get yourself a tube amp, and set it as loud as you can, than a natural overdrive will be created, and with that sound you can play anything between buddy guy and ritchie blackmore
