replacement screw for FR
one of the bolts for the locking nut on my guitar is totaly stripped. i went to my local music store and they have absolutly no parts whatsoever for a floyd rose(isn't that somthin'). next i went to the hardware store and the guy there gave me a bolt that was too big and he said that was as close a match as he could get. anybody have any solutions? i realy dont want to have to order anything off the internet(the shipping for the little things would cost more than the bolts themselves), so any alternate solutions would realy help. thanks

Are you sure that only the screw is damaged? If the threads of the hole in the nut are also damaged, you may have to replace the entire nut.
If your guitar needs to be fixed, what's it worth to you? I find that >StewMac< usually has the right parts, and is pretty good about shipping costs.

no, the threads are fine. its just the top part(where the allen wrench goes) is stripped, its just a circle now.

never mind guys, i got some screws that fit fine. i talked to a guy at another hardware store and he said that if the guitar was made in a different country, all the parts might be metric. he was right. i got some stainless steel ones for my all black guitar, it looks sick.

Just curious. How much did you pay for them?
I replaced two on my guitar about three weeks ago, had a hard time finding them at the guitar stores, and when I found them, they charged me $10 each.
Ridiculous price for such small screws.

That's strange....Every music store in Columbia SC keeps those in stock. I had that problem too. What I found was to get a better quality allen (hex) wrench that won't smooth out along the edges, which in turn rounds out the allen screw.
I think I paid like $3 a piece for the screws here.....
I know you said you don't won't to order online, but they are $2 for a 3 piece set at Samash....

I know they charged me too much for those screws, specially because I saw the prices online, and some places in England sell them for just a few cents, and here in the US for les tan $3.
But I do not order anything from the internet and I needed my guitar the next day.
I am not sure if the other screws fit the nut blocks, I think those are strap locks.
These are the ones I am talking about.

I paid too much regardless.
