pots
Hey guys, just checking if you can help me...what impedance rating do most guitar control pots have...500k right?

generally it's recommended that humbuckers use 500k post... single coil pickups use 250k pots... and active pickups use 25k pots. there are other pots that can be used... it depends on what tone you want... you CAN use 500k and 250k on either humbuckers or single coils... 500k pots tend to bleed off more treble and 250k pots tend to sharpen tone...

Actually, the lower the pot resistance, the more treble gets lost. A 500 k pot with a single coil, or a 1 Meg pot with a humbucker can open up the sound. Or it might sound harsh. YMMV.
I use 1 Meg pots with my aftermarket buckers; the factory pots were 500 k, as are the pots in my single-coil SG-2, while my V has 250 k pots and buckers as the stock configuration.
Rule of thumb: increase the pot resistance to open up a muddy pup; decrease resistance to warm up a harsh one.

Thats what I meant... I was in a hurry... Sometimes I get dyslexic when I'm in a hurry. Thanks for the correction.
