im planning on buying a wah pedal.

1. between $50-100

2. is there a definite one that i should buy

3. ones to avoid

4. ones not to avoid

5. what to look for in the wah pedal

i play alot of genres. i go from blues to classic rock to hard rock to modern. so im just looking for a good wah pedal. for example my friend got an Ibanez wah pedal yesterday.. i forgot its name but it was really nice. im trying to get one like that or better.

if you cant help me, thanks for taking our time to read this.

EDIT: i found the wah pedal he's using, its the Ibanez TLWD7 (ToneLok Weeping Demon) Wah Pedal...

Wahs to look at: Dunlop Standard Crybaby, Crybaby classic (70's sound) Slash uses it, and 535q this is the one eric clapton uses, very versatile. You could also consider a vox.

Wahs to avoid: anything under $50, is mostly crap.

Avoid Dunlop GCB95 and Boss.

For good wah sounds, I would recommend getting more money and get a VOX or a 535Q from Dunlop.

Yeah if you want a great wah that's not a boutique i'd get a vox cyde mccoy reissue- $150. or get a dunlop 535q i think it's like $110 or so.

why don't you just save up your money and buy something thats worth it. if you buy something thats not worth it then the money is wasted because you can't get that money back.

yea thats some good advice. .. just somehow spending $150 on a "pedal" seems just weird.

Okay, look at it this way. What is a real waste of cash? Spending a hundred bucks on a pedal that sits in the closet, or spending 150 bucks or more on a pedal that has to be pried outta your rig because you use it so much? The same thing could be said for it going the other way around too. If the cheap pedal gives you the sound you are looking for, by all means get it. The one time that this rule doesn't apply is when the pedal is cheap because it is made poorly and will not stand up to use.

Get the Vox 847 (about $100). if your willing to spend a lot get the Clyde Macoy Vox or the Budda. The Budda is sold in most places for $160 but at Musiciansfriend.com you can get it for $150. I just bought the Vox 847 and love the sound.

Yeah, I have a Boss PW-10 V-Wah, and I don't like it at all. It has a bunch of different wah settings that all sound identical to me. Cost me $250! I don't know much about which wahs are the best, so this is helping me out a lot too. I plan on selling my V-Wah and getting a good one.

I was looking for a wah that has a real deep sound and springs back on its own. Morley wahs do that, right? How do they sound?

I have an old "Thomas Organ" crybaby that I won't part with, but if I were to buy a new cheaper wah, I would get the Morley Bad Horsie, it is sick, awesome sound.
