Hey everyone, I'm just curious for those of you who are still in school whats your GPA. Mines 3.67 but my music arts teacher didnt get the grades in on time for his class so I think that whole class might not have been in my GPA.

sophmore in high school. I'm smart enough and can get by without too much effort (all of that goes into the guitar). I have around a 3.2 (all honors or Ap classes mind you).

IQ tests aren't even really a test of "intelligence."

They were never designed for it, but somehow, that's somehow we're trying to use them for today.

I don't know what my weighted gpa is, but my unweighted one is 4.2. I'm a junior in high school, and damn I wish I was a senior this year. :(

Who did you have to kill to get a 4.2? Do you go to public school?

You can't have an unweighted gpa above 4.0, you mean Weighted (meaning taking into account honor's classes).

I could care less about my gpa. I'm going to graduate and I'm going to have a good job. If I put 10% of the time I play guitar into my schoolwork I'd have a 4.0.

Well, I'm not in school anymore, but while I was getting my 2-year Associate's degree in Drafting, I held a 4.0 for both years. Previous college years weren't so great though

Exactly, I chose guitar as well. In my case it was more like a "what do I want to do for the rest of my life". I decided I wanted to play guitar and to focus on a lot of the things they teach in school would be a waste of my time and hinder the process of me getting where I want to be. Of course, I did graduate, just not with flying colors. But I guarantee you I'm way better at guitar than I am with those stupid calculus classes they were pushing me into. The square root of 36(4/2 * 26.3) + pi = not enough practice on my sweeps and taps. Time to put these stupid books away and perfect my art.

Yea it's like at some point, you just have to say, what do I want out of life? I think it's a much better investment in my sanity to play guitar rather than drive myself nuts with the books every night.

Friend of mine could also invest his two cents to this topic as he had dropped out of college about a year ago. He decided that what he wanted to do was in the hands of either comedy or music and being at college as an auto technician wasn't getting him on the stage for either of the above stated. This is the time for us, the youthful ones, to decide what we want to do and to make it happen. The less time we bull**** ourselves and make things work the closer we'll come. I don't have any doubt in my mind that I can make it where I want to be, it's just going to take some more time and so long as I have a job and the creativity I can take care of the rest. I may go to college, I haven't decided yet. But I'm not going to major in anything that I don't think will benefit me and my trade years from now. I'd like to go to college, but I won't if I think it's going to waste my time.

You should consider majoring something music somewhere. I've been really tempted to at least minor in guitar or music theory

Yeah, I'm a freshman at St. Ignatius high school and they give craploads of homework so i cant seem to break 3.7 and continue to improve my chops....... But i definetly care about guitar waaaayyy more then anything, its above everything but God, friends and family and my health so that i can continue to play..... But i want to major in music when I go to college at like berkely or GIT or something. If i can get in and my family affoard it.
