I am a beginner on guitar.Although I play few years and knowing how to play o.k.But I don;t know anything about
tone~ I have a Ibanze RG series guitar. A DOD corrsion
effect pedal.and a pretty suck "samick" amp.
To me it doesn't sounds right~ It's not crunchy enough
. and also I can feel the powerless sound. So every time
I have to turn my tone button to the clearest(maxium)
and turn my volume switch to the loudest.
How should I cahnge my EQ or even to geta better setting
than the orignal?
I want Metal Sound!!!
P.S is it every guitar have a battery? How do I know
that it's time for change? is it important?

You're using a little practise amp right?
Ok, here is what you can do, if you want more crunch, try getting that with adding more treble(or tone knob in your case), adjust your bass to keep it somewhat chunky sounding, and be easy with the middle. Don't use too much distortion though, you don't want to start sounding too muddy.

However, if you ever change to a louder amp, forget EVERYTHING i just said. At low volumes, the settings i gave ya might sound ok, but at high levels it will sound bad, really really bad! hehe

PS: Only guitars with active electronics have a battery in them, since you have an RG, i doubt it strongly that you've got active pickups in it. If you do though, then yes, it is important to change them when needed(when you start loosing volume and/or tone).

Add a better amp & some Duncan pickups to that list. Or just get a good amp and screw the metal zone.
Ibanez stock pickups tend to be on the "suck" side of the pickup world, too. Stick some better ones in there.

That's assuming you have at least $700-$800 to blow on new pick-ups and an amp. If you're going to get the Seymour Duncans, make sure you get the Screaming Demons. Or get EMG 81's. Either way, they're about $100 a pop. Not to mention that any kind of amp that's worth a damn is going to cost you at least $500. OR...you can throw down $90 for a Boss Metal Zone now and have a quick fix until you can actually afford all of that stuff later.

I agree with you. Use the MT-2 Metal Zone with a high gain humbs and any good amp. You can try whith a Marshall Valvestate.

For now, the amp is more important. No guitar with any kind of pickup will give you the sound you want with that piece of ****.

*Take the 9 volt battery out of your guitar and touch it to your tongue....If ya get a nice tingle (compare it to a new one), than itz OK :D......P.S. The advent of new pick-ups out there today (like the "screamin' demon and "invader") make the active stuff more of a hassle than they're worth...Remember, the more plumbing ya got, the easier it is to stop up the drain.....One pick-up, one volume knob, good shielding on the wire, strong 1/4" female jack, new strings and an amp that has at least a tube pre-amp....Celestion speakers are the way to go, but I have had SUPERB luck with the Emminence(sic)line of speakers....They have a nice soft tone and with (minimal) EQ-ing, they wail like a new-born :D
*Turn the bastard up and see what happenz.... :D
