The next thing I like to do in any new tuning is to figure out what's easily accessible within it, so that's what we'll explore in this lesson. The biggest thing for the drop D tuning is of course the open D-chord with the low D in the bass. It sounds big and tough.
The other thing that's ripe for the picking is the one-finger power chords down here on the bass strings. See normally a power chord looks like this, but now that we've tuned down the D-string it's all in the same fret.
