How much does the type of wood affect the tone of a speaker cabinet/box? What are some good tone woods to build a box from, and where's the best place to purchase them? The box I'm wanting to build will be for an 8" speaker, and will be powered by the guts of a gibson GA-5 Skylark. Would the wood thickness need to be 1/2" or 3/4", and should the speaker baffle be the same as the rest of the box? One more question and I'll be through (ok, probably not :rolleyes: )... What are the different tonal qualities of open back, 3/4 closed back, and sealed boxes?
