out one thing they all have in common.

Hair metal is basically glam rock and heavy metal mixed together,

The clothing was sort of New York Dolls, but the music was still heavy metal,
and so the mainstream crowd discovered the hair bands, many through MTV

sort of like modern hip-hop/pop-songs.

Most of them re-records the same old 80's metal, and claim they're back and
better than ever, which everybody including themselves of course know
they're not. But they still sell out shows and sell records because despite
the fact that the 80's are long gone, there will always be some people who
refuses to accept that. I am one of them I guess.

Dude...you say GNR is heavy metal? Man...do you know what heavy metal is?!? When you say that hair metal is all about the hair, take a look at Dave Mustaine...Now thats a set of hair he has, all curled up. Was he hair metal? OH HELL NO! He's raw heavy metal. Not GNR...with Axl Rose...dumb guy... I wouldn't consider hair metal as a look but as a sound. You don't classify music by the looks...I mean, you listen to music, you don'y look at music. You can't just look at them as say, "hey, thats hair metal." Man, if you said that to Mustaine, he'd kick your ass...ok I'm done getting mad...feel free to flame. :p
