I just about have everything figured out the way I want it now, so I would like to see what your opinions are. all will be comming from warmoth except the bridge.

standard strat body - swamp ash
transparent brownor natural finish(undecided)
white pearl pickguard(undecided)
standard thin maple neck w/
10-16" compound radius pau ferro fretboard
6105 stainless steel frets
abalone dot inlay's
schaller locking tuners
LSR roller nut
hipshot hardtail bridge (from stewmac.com)
Lace sensor hot gold single coil pup's:
6k in neck and mid. 13.2k in bridge
2 vol. 1 for neck and mid and 1 for bridge
1 master tone all 250k pots, or should I use
a 500k for the bridge volume?
all hardware will be chrome

so, what do you think?

stick with the 250k pot in the bridge. Also will you be using the Trilogy bridge?
So. If you throw a cat out of a car window, is it considered "kitty litter"?

Sounds good to me. I like the chrome ... its always looks nice !
By virtue of their electrical properties, tubes generate a special waveform when they're saturated, which is why tube engineering has tremendous tonal advantages over solid state or DSP solutions, particularly for crunch and lead sounds. Tubes enter the saturation zone gradually or softly, which lends tube-driven tone its trademark yet totally unique character.

if I went with a tortois shell type pickguard, gold would look amazing on the guitar. But, I prefer the white pearl/pearloid. plus gold hardware has a tendancy to loose it's gold color over time, so I'm going to stick with all chrome hardware. I'm also going to get some chrome knobs with white pearl tops. Since pau ferro isn't a very dark brown, I want to try to have the transparent brown finish be matched as close as possible to whatever shade of brown the fretboard is. Either that or leave the swamp ash body natural with a clear gloss so it will be closer to the maple neck.......I've got such bad GAS right now over this guitar it's awful! Also, I'm leaning towards abalone dot inlay's on the fretboard, but then again, the pickguard and knob tops will be pearl, so I should probably go with MOP inlay's to be more uniform.........this is driving me crazy! but I'm enjoying it so much, especially since this dream guitar is so close to becomming reality....

I think my final decision is going to be the natural look with the white pearl pickguard and chrome hardware. I think the natural ash will look better in contrast with the pau ferro fretboard than trying to match a stain to the fretboard. I'm still not sure on abalone or pearl dot inlay's though, or even if I want dot inlay's.....since they're so typical....hmm... I'm glad I'm not in a hurry to get this guitar, because I want to be 110% sure about everything before I spend any $$$

I agree.. the MOP inlays will look much better when everything matches..

funny - you're building what I want! Pretty close to it anyway. Was going to do the same with the body, leave it natural and clear coat it so it's REAL glossy but I love the idea of the chrome with the pearl... that looks sweet..

side question - what difference do the pots make? meaning the 250k to 500k?

I'm not 100% sure, but I think the 500k pots for the tone knob will produce a brighter sound than the 250k. Which, isn't that great of an idea for a guitar setup that naturally has a bright tone to begin with. As for the volume pot's, I have no idea how they affect the guitar

I don't know a hell of alot about building guitars, but as far I know the pots depend on the pickup frequency, or something like that. If you use a 250k with a pickup that needs a 500k pot then you won't get the full range of the pickup. not sure what happens if you use a 500k pot for one thats designed for 250k though.

Don't quote me on any of that and say im wrong...I wouldn't be suprised, thats just my idea...
