Man, this dude rocks. Amazing. I have his DVD guitar clinic. It was dirt cheap and worth every penny. Check him out at the Tone Merchants.

Yeah, he's great. I saw a few small video clips of him and thought he was really cool :D
By virtue of their electrical properties, tubes generate a special waveform when they're saturated, which is why tube engineering has tremendous tonal advantages over solid state or DSP solutions, particularly for crunch and lead sounds. Tubes enter the saturation zone gradually or softly, which lends tube-driven tone its trademark yet totally unique character.

The DVD is about an hour of Guthrie Govan playing instrumental tunes at a guitar clinic. Very impressive chops and very versatile. Worth the $8 it cost. Heck, any DVD costs more than that.
