Normally I wouldn't bother even mentioning an ordinary virus but this one is a special case.

Here's some more news:
An email worm known as MyDoom, which masquerades as an advisory message from a computer technician, has become the worst internet virus since SoBig last year.

Anti-virus expert Alan Bell said yesterday that MyDoom-infected emails were dominating about 10 per cent of world internet traffic, nearly twice the infection rate of SoBig - meaning it was being carried by tens of millions of bogus emails every hour.
Some reports suggest it has been deliberately built to attack a US software company that has incurred the wrath of the worldwide community that uses the Linux operating system.

Others suggest it is coming out of a Russian server site that contributes to the general spam epidemic.

So far, about 100,000 machines worldwide have been infected, although early action by corporate networks in updating anti-virus software has prevented serious damage to computer systems.

Like others of its kind, MyDoom infects only computers using Windows and many home users have been hoodwinked by the apparently helpful nature of the host email's message.
