You sure this is a valid question?
I mean here on guitartricks...

I'm going to be very bold and say that NOBODY active on this forum actually enjoys rap(of course I might be wrong)

well... I hope you not wrong. I suppose someone might like it. I'm sure i saw someone talk about it before.
By virtue of their electrical properties, tubes generate a special waveform when they're saturated, which is why tube engineering has tremendous tonal advantages over solid state or DSP solutions, particularly for crunch and lead sounds. Tubes enter the saturation zone gradually or softly, which lends tube-driven tone its trademark yet totally unique character.

Never say nobody likes something or everybody likes something on this forum, because someone is bound to say they like it (or don't) just to piss you off.
The only rap that is worth listening to occasionally I'd have to say is in some reggae, and some with comedy underlying motifs... or not underlying. Like "boom I f*cked your boyfriend* by 20 Fingers... it quite an amusing song.

I like some hip hop. Like the roots, the streets, roots manuva. And hip-hop influenced bands such as Stereo MCs, Asian Dub Foundation.

I barely consider it music much less like it. I will admit it does take some talent to rhyme the way they do. I mean you gotta have talent to be able to make bitches, ho's, bling bling, smoking dope, getting drunk, screwing bitches and ho's while ridin on you 22's gakin punk ass mofos on the block and still making it sound fresh every song.
So. If you throw a cat out of a car window, is it considered "kitty litter"?

A lot of main stream music in every genre sucks.

If Rage Against the Machine counts... i like them.... i do also like some Run Dmc and some Cypress Hill.

But all that "hip-hop"... i do not like... its all about what kind of weapon there using to beat there wife... or there money... or there drugs. There are barley any posotive messgages in there lyrics. Thats what inspires the kids of " my generation " to be that way... they all try to be thugs or hoodlums as you old foggies call them :p :)

I frankly want no part of this... and i feel bad for the kids who do... because they really have no minds of their own. And i feel rap music and clothes have alot to do with this... not to be prejiduce but thats why you see all these white kids running around tryin to look like 50 cent ( hahaha ).

You're wrong. I dig rap. Well, some of it. As with any genre of music, there's the good, the bad, the mainstream, the underground...

Although it's nice to classify everything and put them in neat little boxes so they don't get mixed together (admittedly, I like doing that, too), music is never confined by genres. Even if a band, album, song, is classified as one type of music, rarely fits that mold perfectly.

What I'm trying to say is, you can't make a sweeping statement about thousands of bands, tens of thousands of albums, or millions of songs based on your own limited exposure to the "genre".

That being said, I hate country music.

The only rap I listen to Aussie Hip-Hop that's on the radio. I sit through it for a laugh. It's is incredably bad and the lyrics are ridiculous. In a Two Fat C*unts song, one of them goes on about how he stuck his dick in a frozen chicken and how he breaks dodgem cars when he sits in them. Other song themes are BBQs, scallops and how the 'colour clothing gangs' at the mall are a bunch of dickholes.

Rap .... omg.. oh well .. i know a die hard rapper and he keeps telling me that it is pretty difficult and all and the real rap is nothing like the mainstream sh*t you hear on MTV or everywhere else. i dunno - i never concerned myself much with it. .so - maybe he´s right.. but maybe he´s just a rapper *LOL*

I was a big fan o' rap before guitar music/playing took over my life. I can still enjoy a few classics like, Dre's "The Chronic", Snoop's "Doggystyle", 2pac "All Eyez".... Basically when they rapped slow and talked about murdering people. But were actually doing it, not like the posers profiting today. Gotta throw Too $hort in there too, listened to him for a good many years.

I like oldschool rapers, such as n.w.a, snoop dogg, dr. dre.
Maybe rap is not as complicated as progressive metal, but then again , who said music had to be complicated to be good?
Lots of people here get madwhen someone says all the shredders sound the same, while you keep on saying that about rapers. Isnt it exactly the same thing?

"They think im crazy..
but i know better.
It is not I who am crazy.
It is I who am mad.."

mmm there was a time long ago when i liked hip hop and stuff..

but only stuff like cypress hill and house of pain is what i can stand for a lil while.

and raggae is not rap the vocal type is called toasting........usually they do it live, and all those rim shots that rappers use are all reggae roots.

if u listen to aphex twin's - windowlicker ull find whta a nice combo of rnb [well what they call rnb now] and hip hop beats..blended nicely....i appreciate something like that or electronica like trip hop which has derived from those types of styles..dnb / drill n bass all sounds good its music u just have to lay off the mtv rap stars u know which ones........

Well, if anyone likes Anthrax out there you should know that they begun with raping and later on they did songs with Run DMC.

Aerosmith anyone? "Walk this way" is well known rocksong and just think it's fiting in good with rap in that particular song, made by Run DMC.

Allthough I have been listening to metal/rock most of my life and my favorite bands are Blind Guardian, Dream Theater, Megadeth, Opeth, Ozzy, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple etc. Although I still thinks that Dr. Dre is a damn good producer, and rap-artist (NWA). Necro, Eminem and Tomme Tee aswell..

Perhaps I'm just very interrested in music so I just can't place a whole genré of music in the thrashcan (haha). Have open minds for different music and don't complain over different styles that perhaps doesn't fit you.
