This has to be some kind of joke, or.....or....or....oh my god!!! It's true.

What a bunch of raving lunatics with too much money and time on their hands. This is ludacris.

There is no way this is going to pass, if it does, this will be the downfall of all music.

I like the part where it says we've been using the chords since 1982. Well I'm sure some other bands have used this combination in thousands of songs before 1982.

What a bunch of stupid a*s idiots. I agree with chuck.

I agree with Pantallica. That is so stupid. Others have done it!
But from the sounds of it, it's mainly Lars that's freakin' out.

I still like their music though.
If I leave here tomorrow,
Will you still remember me?

Haha, this has to be a complete joke!
No one with the amount of experinece in the industry that Metallica have would say anything like this.
If for some inexplicable reason this is true, I must say Metallica truly have gone insane. What idiots.

Guys i personally think it is a fake!

Look at the link at the botom where it says 'Metallicas official website has the statement from the band'

Click that link and it is the same websites address just with the copied look of the Metallica site!

Im no Internet whiz so i maybe wrong but when i went to the Metallica site there was nothing there and the website address was metallica.com or something not the address of the site with the supposed news.

I reckon its fake (or i really hope it is fake!)

Yeah, scoopthis is an online satirical magazine. Fake, but definitely not out Metallica's realm, which is what makes it believable.

Most definitely a fake, but funny as hell...
I clicked some of the other links and went to mtv, but never could find the link in latest news.

So. If you throw a cat out of a car window, is it considered "kitty litter"?

Here's a line from the bottom of the page that Chuck linked us to:

"© and © ScoopThis.com "Because if it's on the net, it's got to be true" (ie, this is a parody.)"

One read-through of the article and it was pretty obvious it was fake... come on, guys!
... and that's all I have to say about that.

Check out the Unfaith(the band thats supposed to get sued)site..I think its unfaith.com or .net or somthing..
In the bottom right it says somthing about getting updates about the metallica thingy if you get the newsletter.
needless to say..I really want to find out if this "event"(more like an obomination)is written in stone, true or false.

Alright, all it took was a little bit of reading and some common logic.

First off, the article on the scoopthis website is obviously a joke. How can a person sue someone for using chords E and F? There were people using those chords before Metallica, and they're not suing Metallica.

Next, there are dozens of Metallica songs that don't use E and F; actually, they don't have a single song I know of that uses solely E and F.

Finally, according to the Unfaith website, they're not selling any of their songs - they don't have any albums out and the only time their songs are on CDs are for demo purposes. On what basis can Metallica sue them in a civil court? What would they claim as damages?

My goodness, why am I wasting so much of my boss' time on this?
... and that's all I have to say about that.

ALL generalizations are WRONG

You know what's really funny is that a few legitimate news groups picked this up as true and were reporting it LOL...

They were talking about it on Orock 105.9 this morning as if it were true. One of the guys there even called up Metallica's management, and they were like " I don't think so, BUT... they have been known to sue for pretty wierd things"

I nominate it for the prank of the century...
So. If you throw a cat out of a car window, is it considered "kitty litter"?

This is just a stupid publicity stunt."People have come to associate the chords E and F in that order with our music"YIKES!!
I think these guys need real proffessional help(although again nearly all artists would if the professionalz were asked,so go figure). But seriously,if you'd resort to such moves, even in the name of being funny....
I guess they're trying to outdo that guy who copyrighted a piece of silence. Are you talking? No?Well, you better,or you're gonna get sued for copyright infrongement for keeping quiet.

Where abouts on the Metallica site did you find this???

The link to the Metallica site from the original article is NOT the real Metallica site, it is the same site as the article just with the Metallica look.
