I need to do a project on a canadian band/musician/poet and I obviously chose a band/musician. What are some real good Canadian Bands out there?NO PUNK BANDS!!!!OR POP/PUNK BANDS!!!!!!!!!I am talking about Blue Rodeo or I beleive The Guess Who is Canadian. Any Canadian groups you know about, please let me know.

the biggest one: RUSH

there's also Triumph

and if you want, Nickelback and i think Sum 41 is, but they don't count.
To improve technique and of course trying to keep all as clean as possible. I know my own limits and speed limits and so on I never play anything I'm not capable of. That wouldn't make any sense. After three years of playing I tried to play everything as fast as possible and that sounded, I would say, like shit, and I didn't realize that if I'd play bit slower things than I was capable of playing then everything would sound much better.

I agree on Rush. They'd be the best choice if you had to choose a Canadian band who is internationally recognized. I Mother Earth are another great Canadian band. While they haven't acheived the level of fame you might be looking for, they've been on the Canadian music scene for around 10yrs now and they are a really talented group of musicians. They've just released another album called 'the Quicksilver Meat Dream'

BTO, Blue Rodeo, or Neil Young will be the top choices, now to decide on who....

If you want something fairly interesting you can do one on The Jeff Healey Band. What's more interesting than a guy blind from birth who developed his own personal playing style by playing the guitar in his lap and using his thumb as another digit to fret with. He gets some pretty wicked intervals because of that that you just can't do with 4 fingers.
So. If you throw a cat out of a car window, is it considered "kitty litter"?

The Beatles.

Ok, maybe not.

How about The Band? They were Bob Dylan's backing band and then went on to have one of the best selling live albums of all time, as well as a live concert film directe by Francis Ford Coppola!

Here are some more:

Colin James
Cowboy Junkies
Sarah Mclachlan
Wide Mouth Mason (somewhat interesting trio with an Oriental bassist!)
Kim Mitchell/Max Webster
The Tragically Hip
Big Wreck

That's all I can think of off the top of my head!
... and that's all I have to say about that.
