Just wondered who you guys thought was the better musician? I personally think Axl, hes created far more good songs. I think if not for Kurts untimely death he would be less famous.

I think that Kurt has a much more unique style than Axl and this is the most important factor(for me) when judging musicians. Sure, Axl has a greater vocal range, but he is nowhere as original as Kurt.
I also do not like Axl because of his huge ego.
I used to be a big GN'R fan but I never liked him.

Axl is extremly talanted musican no doubt about it. I see him better music creator than Kurt Ā“cause song called Estranged wich I think is mostly done by Axl is phenomenal. Also November Rain.

But itĀ“s hard to know who wrote what but I guess that Axl is the main man behind most piano songs.

Than again thereĀ“s My World wich is definitly worst GNR songs and probably one of worst songs ever. That one is just silly.

I am a huge Guns fans and also acknowlege Axls great songwriting ability covering more than 1 music genre and more wider lyric subjects. But as far as liking vocals, I cannot stand Axl's voice, bit too screechy for my liking. As for Kurts voice I think it is more important to his songs than the music is and I do like his voice.

Axl is infitily more talanted and a better musician. It just so happens that Kurt was at the right place time and his music become popular and stayed popular.

Well, the same is true about axl too.

However I think that this thread is about comparing oranges and grapefruits and it appears that I prefer grapefruits.

Kurt, Axl isn't as original. I know this site is filled with GnR lovers, so I'm ready to be criticzed, but I just think Kurt was the man at songwriting. Thats my opinion, deal with it!

I am new to the site, but id def say Kurt was a better musician. i shouldnt compare, i like GnR's to, axls voice and slash tore it up. Nirvana did some diff and he wrote they way he wanted to sound. He was good at what he wanted to do, and i love kurts voice, and his scream. RIP kurt

Kurt. Axl is an asshole, sure he can somewhat "sing" but is is a jerk off. Anyone remember when gnr was touring with metallica and james hatfield got hurt? They couldn't do the show, and asked gnr to help but axl was being a little bitch because his voice hurt. Hm, why was he smoking then? And as for Kurt, he was a way better musician, he wrote what he felt, what he wanted to say, he never wanted to be as famous as he was, he did it for fun. And when they did the new years eve show, that one band never showed up, but NIRVANA played through their set and then they played longer in the other band's time slot, without a complaint. NIRVANA RULES RIP KURT COBAIN.

I have never failed to fail

Well you failed to answer the question sunshine, so your sig means nothing!

Everyone knows Axl is a wanker who has little or no respect for his fans, its well documented. I still prefer his music to Nirvanas tho.

How'd I fail? I put my own opinion in there, "sunshine"! If you like gnr cool, some of their stuff is okay, but I like nirvana better. So EXCUSE ME!

Personally I think they both suck, BUT....
If I was strapped to a chair in a straitjacket and given a choice of either to slowly fall into insanity to, I would have to pick Guns & Roses, just because I would much rather listen to someone who could at LEAST tune a F U C King guitar...
So. If you throw a cat out of a car window, is it considered "kitty litter"?

Nirvana were OK in their own way but Kurt's status as a rock icon has been way overhyped. Nirvana were lucky to be riding the crest of the grunge wave but the roots had been laid down by Husker Du and the Pixies, especially the whole quiet verse-loud chorus thing.

I quite like G n R, but face it, they were Aerosmith clones but 'Paradise City' was one of the great rock singles of the 80's.

Yeah if Kurt hadnt Topped himself they wouldnt be as famous, obviously!
Duno how people say Guns n Roses are Aerosmith clones. I have everything by GnR and Aerosmith and theres a great difference is style. Listen to the Illusions albums compared to Aerosmiths "Get a Grip" and "Pump" albums, they are totally different!!

I'm not saying G N R were Aerosmith clones, just pretty heavily influenced. Clearly, you can tell a 'Smith tune and an G N R tune apart. I guess it was more the imagery, attitude, whatever and not so much the music.

Yeah its similar attitude. It just annoys me when people pass of a band as a clone of another when they are not really.
