"I need a girl who's as hot as my guitar."
just wondering
Do any of you people go through a routine before you go on stage???

One thing I always do before a gig - eat well about 1.5 - 2 hours before going on. Not something heavy, though, that'll zap yer energy. I generally eat a good salad or some pasta. Something lite yet filling. Also, give yourself some time to yourself before playing, just time to relax, possibly meditate... That's about it.

I do a lot of scales and warm ups. I like to be performing in the middle of playing, not at the beginning.
Also, I make sure my hands don't get cold. No matter what.

Pretty much what Jake said. Hate those cold hands!

During the day I go through all the sets by myself to a recording of the rehearsals, especially the difficult songs. Then change all the strings and spend a bit of time going over the guitars intonation, cleaning it, stretching out the strings.
Finally, when ya get to the gig, take a pen & paper with ya to collect girls phone numbers.... might as well take advantage of your 15 minutes of fame eh... :)

I eat Hershey's Special Dark candy bars with the drummer write my band's name/logo on the bathroom urinal wall with a red marker everywhere we play. No better time to read than when you're visiting the privy.

Oops. The post by Jake above was actually me. I administer this board and I was logged in as him checking some password problems he had.
I don't want to spoof my buddy Jake!
Jake probably just goes stage diving first. He is a wild man.

Heh, cold hand, i remember helping some friends out at a rehersal the day before a gig at school. It was so cold in the gym that night that no one could hold onto their picks and strings were actually contracting, and throwing the guitar outta tune, then when they started playing they streathed again, out again, and so on... That was a crazy night to say the least.

First, I pray. If I can't do that with the rest of the worship team, I'll pray as I warm up on some really familiar runs - just to get the blood flowin' to the digits. Then I'll tackle the runs or progression that we'll be doing in the songs for that set. Oh, yeah - I just found these great sites with some good stretches:

Hope this helps!
