Despite my best intentions, I am starting to accumulate a collection of pedals, plug-in amps, cables, power sources, loose picks, capoes, slides, loose music sheets, etc. which is cluttering my practice space. Is there a good solution for all this detritus in terms of shelves? I need something like a shoe cubby for  pedals and other electronica, I think, that keeps it close at hand but not spilling off a crowded nightstand. Anyone found a good solution? Maybe shelves dumb. Any ideas welcome.

You can go to online stores and buy boxes like desktop pen holders.

You can use pedalboard. A pedalboard is a popular solution for organizing guitar pedals and cables. It is essentially a board or platform onto which you can attach your pedals, power supply, and other accessories. Pedalboards come in various sizes and can be customized to fit your specific needs.
