End of the Era

The beatles influenced the Stones, the Stones were major influences on Aerosmith, and Aersomith were one of the Key influences to Guns n Roses! So why while Guns and Slash were so popular didnt they influence that many people? I mean loada people like Slash but i never hear people talking about guns! wot went wrong? Who did Guns influence?
