In another post someone mentioned slash was kinda responsible for Gibson Les Pauls being as popular as they are today, is this true? I mean the 80's were full of extravagant BC rich guitars with wammy bars n all, was slash one of the few who brought the gibson back?
Were gibsons the first electirc guitars?

Im not sure but I think Fenders were the first.

Slash plays a BC Rich these days, at least he did with Snakepit. Gibsons were 70's and Slash used em in the 80's, BCs were 80's and he used em in the 90's, anyone see a pattern here?

im the one who said slash brought back the gibson in the eighties and he did. It was him and perry from aerosmith which used gibson in the eighties. He had more of an effect because he was in a more popular band at the time and he was inspired by joe perry before. Fenders were the most popular in the early eightes especally because of van halen, but slash and perry were pretty much the mainstream les paul users. There are some blah blah details here and there but thats the main picture.
WWSD? What would stevie do?

Yeah Perry was the only other player i could think of who changed to Gibsons around that time.
Zeppelin your wrong about slash playing BC Rich guitars these days, he has one, a mochingbird, but apart from that he mainly plays his les pauls. I visit his fan page everyday and recently daily posted pictures of him jamming and at shows always show him with one of his les pauls.

There aren´t many songs that Slash don´t play Les Paul on but one I know is You Could Be Mine.

I didn´t hear lot of Slash latley but on first snakepit album it´s 100% Les Paul.

Gibson made the first electric guitar. Les Paul (the person) had a Gibson acoustic guitar and couldn't hear the harmonica above the guitar. So he invented the "pickup" and made a solid body "acoustic" guitar with the pickup on the top. Les Pauls(the guitar) have not changed in look at all from the beginning, except for a few minor things.
I saw all this on a TV show on Gibsons.

What kind of guitar did he use on "YCBM"?
Blues is easy to play, but hard to feel.

He uses a BC Rich Mochingbird on YCBM, it has a whammy bar so he uses it on some other covers too, like Michael Jackson - Beat It.

Les Paul DID make the first electric guitar. but Fender made the first SOLIDBODY electric guitar (the Telecaster) and is therefore credited with the first electric guitar. which makes sense to me.
and i think Slash did help this big Les Paul thing. but Randy Rhoads toight white Les Paul was one of the most beautiful things i've ever seen. can't help but love it.
Thanks for listening to this small piece of me.

Bigsby was making electric solidbody guitars before Fender, but they (he?) never produced many. Fender was absolutely the first to truely produce a solidbody electric guitar.
