my floyd rose is at a big slant...
anyone know how to fix this? i replaced some of the strings and i only had an 11 string instead of a 9 for the E string and it's at a slant when i tune it to right pitch. anyone know how to adjust at the right level?

Open your back plate, and look at the screws going into the guitar body (from the trem springs). Hopefully, you can screw them into the body a few turns - this will tighten up your spring tension and lower your trem back down flush with the body.

instead of tighteneing the springs...take the high e off of the tuner so its only hooked to the tailpiece....at the front of the saddle is a screw with a hex hole...loosen it and move thwe saddle forward, this makes th efloyd rose able to stand 11 guage strings :)

now you still have the sensitivity and tone, unlike when yiou tighten the springs...when you get a 9 guage e string the tension will be toooooo tight and youl have too losen it again, so my way is more sensible :)

Marios - this will throw his intonation off on the high E. And won't help bring his trem back down flush to the body.

I had the same problem too... and probably locking the screws at the back of the body won't be enough to solve the problem since you made a big step by changing to 11's gauge, so you should get another spring like I did.

This may sound strange, but since this problem started when you put on the .011 E string, how about just putting a .009 E string back on it, unless you want to keep doing this, buy some extra E strings the next time you buy strings, one of the basics of setting up a guitar is staying with the same gauge strings, I understand this was probably an emergency measure, but do you want to re-set your Floyd Rose for a 50 cent string?

I don't think that was his point... Some people (including me) prefer thicker gauge strings for tonal reasons.
If it's for the tone, then it surely worth every cent.

I think if you re-read his post, he says " I only had an 11 string instead of a 9 for the E string", sounds like he would have used an .009 if he would have had one, my point is that no matter what gauge set you want to use, stick with the same thing every time or you'll constantly be setting up your vibrato, truss rod, bridge height, pick-up height and blah, blah, blah, etc, etc..........

Usualy people change the whole set of strings, so I just thought he changed to higher gauge for tonal purpose.
And yeah, setting up your guitar each time you change the strings is very painful, you should try different gauges first to see which is better for you (for comfortable playing and tonal reasons) , and stick with it forever ..
