i have a decent amp that costs about $900 dollers. However i have a standard fender. I tend to hear hum on the single coils and when ever i touch the low strings i hear a quick static pop, thats not to loud but you can hear it and its annoying! It is driving me crazy! Is a noise pedal the right path to take and if so which are good ones for about $100?

to reiterate: hum, which is characteristic of single coils, specially standard fender coils, but this annoying little static pop sound when ever i touch the low e and string below it.
WWSD? What would stevie do?

A gate will only clean up the signal when you are not making any noise, so Im not sure it is the solution to your problem.
My instructors page and www.studiotrax.net for all things recording.

A Noise Gate will cancel the Hum, and the static if it's too low in volume.

The static is usualy a grounding problem.
