Does anyone have any suggestions for awesome guitar songs? Preferrably not heavy metal or punk, although all suggestions are open.
The two songs that I consider to be awesome guitar songs are House Of The Rising Sun(The Animals) and Dust In The Wind(Kansas).

Basically every Nirvana song. Uh, silverchair's tomorrow is totally awesome. Ozzy's paranoid, Workin' man by Rush (as well as most of their other stuff). Simple Man. Those are just my opinions though. :D [/QUOTE]I've never failed to fail.

Dream Theater - Lines In The Sand
Steve Vai - For The Love Of God
Stevie Ray Vaughaun - Crossfire
Joe Satriani - Cool No.9

And i'll always hold a special place in my heart for Metallicas Master Of Puppets! hehe

Challenge yourself:

Dream Theater: Metropolis
Vai: Windows to the Soul
Rush: Xanadu
Eric Johnson: Desert Rose

Random selection, no real reason for choosing them other than the fact you could be working on each of them for months. :)

Metropolis is cool but it isn´t that hard. If you really want challange try to learn Dream Theater´s Dance Of Eternety. I never tried it ´cause you´ll have to own a 7-string axe.

Malmsteen´s Rising Force (his first album) songs are amazing as well as Vai´s songs like For The Love Of Good, Audience Song, Erotic Nihgtmares, Satrianis Surfing With Alien, Summer Song, Always With Me...

Almost evry instrumental tune by guitar master players are amazing guitar songs. But unvirtouso bands can somtimes be really cool like the last one I learned a couple days ago was Queen´s old classic Bonhemian Rhapsody. I arranged the piano parts to guitar and some of it sound really cool not to mention the ending riff wich kicks ass. Solo is very very easy, actually whole song is damn easy but it´s cool especially if you can sing along.

Jason Becker - Perpetual Burn
Choose anything off of that album especially the title track.
Other than that i'd go with some Zeppelin or some AC/DC or maybe some Black Sabbath.

Funk 49 by the James Gang (Joe Walsh) is a cool tune. If you're looking for mellow tunes - try 'More Than Words" by Extreme (Nuno).
