Filter
For most of their songs, I like Filter. But their new song is incredible called "Where do We go from Here?". I was just wondering what you people thought about them.

Well, Richard Patrick is the lead singer for that band. He used to be with NIN back in late 80's early 90's. He quit the band because he got pissed off at Trent Reznor and he always gloats that he wrote Ringfinger. He says Ringfinger was the only good thing to come out of NIN. Yeah, right. He also dissed The Fragile album (which I enjoyed and felt was one of the few good records of 1999). He said NIN isn't about art anymore since he left and in one of his videos he beats up some Trent Reznor doll or something.
Besides that, I think that recent single is pretty good.

They played that suicide video at an Ohgr concert one time.
I'm going to have to say that NIN is better than Filter. Richard Patrick just can't make songs as interesting as Trent can. Trent is somewhat experimental with his music while Filter tries to keep it as mainstream as possible.
Go buy a NIN CD and stop listening to that stupid Closer song. I really hate how that song gets so much recognition while the good songs on that CD are never recognized. Ruiner, Hurt, Mr. Self Destruct, and Reptile. If you've heard Pretty Hate Machine pretty much dismiss that one. It's mostly a ripoff of older industrial bands. Broken sounds similar to Psalm 69 era Ministry. Downward Spiral and The Fragile are the albums that are his best works because they don't borrow as much from anything else. It's when the group actually became original and creative.

Hey, if you like Ministry because of Psalm 69 and beyond go listen to With Sympathy (Don't buy it. Find a friend or listen to it in a record store). They were a completely different band back then. You'll be suprised.
My favorite Ministry album is Land of Rape and Honey. That's when they first started to be more guitar oriented as well as making some really cool experimental electronic stuff.
