As I am new to playing guitar my Metronome I purchased is helping me big time. Going through the lessons with Lisa and the melodies we are working on, I have found that if I set the beats per minutes way down to 44 and work my way up slowly it has helped me get the strings hit to the songs and I can then reach the beats per minute with Lisa through the lessons. I am doing much better with this method and just wanted to share with everyone. I am loving the lessons and the step by step approach and I am not feeling overwhelmed.

Congratulations Vicki and welcome to GT. As an old fart, the GT site has helped me immensely in learning guitar over again after not playing for 50 years. Although I completed fundamentals 1 and 2 probably faster than most, you are doing it correct to practice with a metronome and take it one step at a time. If you have reached the point where you are doing the spider finger exercises, I have a suggestion. Start slowly at maybe 80 BPM and work your way up from there. When I did it, I set the metronome to 4 beats per measure if I was practicing with 4 fingers, and 3 beats per measure if I was practicing with three fingers. Good Luck!!
