music program
Somebody told me about a program (i fogot the name) that allows you to slowdown a recorded tune without lowing the voice (as a tape recorder does). The objective is to analyse guitar tricks ...

You can do that with 'cool edit' I know there's a program that's dedicated though... it's called the tape machine or something...

Line 6 (No I donāt have shares in them) Make something called a "Guitar Port" which plugs into your computer. This will play stuff at half speed with out altering pitch. It also (for a small additional fee which made me quite unhappy on principle) provides a library of tunes to play along with minus the guitar hero. Example there is the Wind Cries Mary with out Hendrix re mixed from the original master tape...cool hu !
My instructors page and www.studiotrax.net for all things recording.

I personally think Cool Edit 2.0 is the easiest way to do this. It's not a cheap program, but it has endless features besides just tempo changing. A wise investment if you're into home recording. I like Pro Tools too, but I have to have Windows XP Pro and Pro Tools is not compatible with it.

One mamber suggested the amazing slowdowner in past post.
If I recall it was Bradsley
I tried it and it did work good.
You can also check out some winamp plugins, in had one once that did just that.
Now I use Cool edit pro 2.0 and I do stand beside fendermonkey77 in saying that it's an great sound editing tool. Very expensive (much more when you're canadian, curse that damn exchange rate!!)

The difference between something like the Amazing Slowdowner and programs like Cooledit (Assuming it is like Logic Audio here) is that the Amazing slowdowner makes the changes in real time (while you listen), while the other programs actually make a new audio file and then you play it back. WHile the Amazing slowdowner can be useful, audio editing programs have much better sound quality and are not reliant on very fast processors to do all the calculations in time. Actually, it's probably an example of low tech answers being a lot easier. You can get tape players andrecord players with speed and pitch correction, which is a lot easier to adjust.
