I am currently employed as a web designer creating a virtual art gallery http://www.vis.bc.ca using Dreamweaver and Fireworks software mainly just interested in what software this site uses because I like how well organized it is, as well as how the message boards works?

I guess this site is much more "software" oriented. I can't get anything about PHP, and I wish I did, because once your site is up and running, anyone can contribute (not like html)

This message board is a PHP database program that the webmaster bought. The trick areas must be custom PHP code that Jon wrote.

If you know anything about Java, PHP should be real easy to learn. The syntax is the same in a lot of areas.

Hey . . . tell me, do you have the new MX version of Fireworks? According to the Macromedia website, the MX version lets you do popup menus (without having to write all that pesky javascript code). Do the earlier versions let you do popup menus, or just MX?

for that christophson I use dreamweaver 4, it does all the code, a few clicks is all it takes once learned. I use fireworks for graphics mainly(color, layout, roollovers, menues etc.) What I want to get into is getting my computer set up to upload my music,(what sound card/software etc.)then I could use the shockwave/flash features of dreamweaver to upload music with animated videos. What do you all use to get the music from the guitar to the computer?
mx is da chit, very webdesign friendly, you can be absolutely code illiterate and design beauty,

So which verion of Fireworks are you using? . . . and does it do popup menues???

Getting your guitar to your computer can be quite a chore, but a basic setup would be a guitar, a cable, and a soundcard. I always go through my amp, then from the amp headphone jack to the sound card. Any old sound card will do (as long as it has a line-in), but if you want better quality, go with Guillemont (sp?). As for programs, there are myriads of these, everything from free shareware to thousand dollar development/recording suites. And there's always the issue of multitracking, if you want to add drums and other instros. Try out Sound Forge Acid. It has pretty decent multitracking features, and it'll let you add drum loops. Plus, you can record your guitar right into it as a separate track.

Try them out first, you get a 30 day trial. Also I've researched a lot of books, to get started use the oneline tutorials and the series fireworks mx for dummies should be out soon. These books cut straight to the chase for basics, them macromedia has a few goodies.

Check out the Macromedia site. They have the full MX development studio (Flash, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, etc) at a student discount of $199.

Don't hate me for this, but a buddy told me that if you don't want to/cant afford to buy macromedia's stuff, this is what you do:
Get the free trials.Burn them.Use the CD to install.Use them, and when they're near expiry, unbinstall and then reinstall again. It's like resetting the timer or something.
*just some "knowledge"(no one here works there, right?)I thought I ought to share*
