I am new to the whole "soloing" idea. I love hearing them in the songs, and I feel that it's so stupid that we don't hear too many of them anymore. I personally am in a band that wants to bring solos back, problem is is that I am the lead guitarist...and I suck. Here are a couple of rythmns that we have...so please help me with knowing the types of scales, licks, or anything that could teach me what I need to learn in this department.

*hope this tab comes out right*

---------------8-6------------------------------------
-10--------10------10-8--8-8-10-10--10/8-8------------
-7---9/10--7-------------9-9-9--10--10/9-9------------
-----8------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------

*rythmn is BUM--bum bum BUM--bumbumbumbum BUM-bum bum BUM-bumbumBUM-bumbumBUM*

I know that's stupid, but it's the best I can do...

second:

------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------
----7--------7----------7---------6-------------------
--7---x8---7---x4-----7---x2----5---x2----------------
7--------5----------3---------2-----------------------

on this, during the first four "7's" the bass is "7", then during the second half of the eight "7's" the bass is "3", then "0", "3", and "5" respectively...just a simple arppeggio idea that sounds really pretty, probably will be the intro to something hard. We play Metal/Hardcore/Whatever. If it's metal we play it, though I write stuff more related to classically inspired metal.

Thankx again for your help!

*I previewed this and I know that the tab is crappy, but it's the best I can do...sorry*

Go under the tricks section and type "metal" you'll find plenty of things there.
