I was looking at modding amps and found a couple of options. On the spec pages, one showed 20w for power, while the other showed 2x10w.

Is there any significant difference from having the power split like this? Does it sound more stereo-esque, or get more distorted or something?

20W power means one speaker with 20W output power. 2x10 means two speakers with 10W output power.

IĀ“m looking for amps also I suggest you take a look at the Fender Mustang V2. I thinks this is the winner amp for me.

I've used a Fender Mustang II V2 for a year and a half now, and it's an amazing amp compared to the price. Great tone, insanely versatile and you can use the thing as an Audio Interface for recording stuff, and even comes with some recording software for making your own Backing tracks or full recordings! Quite possibly one of the best deals out there.

Other great amps I can recommend are the Peavey Vypyr and Roland Cube series amplifiers. Both of those also sound great, but I liked the Mustang's interface better.

Before you buy check out a Line 6 "Jam"

I still have not found an amp that can help a guitar player improve in more ways faster. It has a computer in it that allows it to record, play jam tracks created by live people in studios. You can speed them up or slow them down or change the key the amp plays them back in. It has a two inch tweeter built in just for playing music back through so you can get the high notes you don't really get from a 12 inch speaker. You can record yourself over the jam tracks. Record a song you made up and jam to it.
Check out some youtubes on it.

It is a 75 w. amp with a 12 inch speaker. They cost $400.00 new from what I see. I've had mine for a little over two years and would save to buy another if I lost it.

I currently have a Mustang 1 v.2 but was looking to upgrade, just wondering if having the wattage split like that blackstar would come with a drop in volume or anything.

I was thinking to buy the 40W Fender Mustang V2...now my mind is telling to spend a little more money and get the 100W.

I think as me the best option before you buy any amp using current technoly is to read online reviews, check youtube videos and finally test by yourself the amp.

With solid state amps it is best to go with the higher wattage. Tube amps sound great when they start to bark, but solid state amps sound not so good that way. Have the extra headroom for the clean and use the different models to get the distortion/overdrive.
