David H. Rankin

(May 29): Portland -- David H. Rankin, 31, died unexpectedly Monday, May 27, 2002 at his apartment in Portland. Born in Camden on Oct. 27, 1970, he was the son of Robert R. and Margaret (Duxbury) Rankin.
He grew up in Camden and moved to Lincolnville Beach with his family when he was in high school. David played Little League baseball and was a member of the wrestling team at the Mary Taylor Middle School. He had attended Our Lady of Good Hope Catholic Church in Camden and was a 1989 graduate of Camden-Rockport High School.
He had lived in Florida briefly before moving to Portland where he has lived for many years.
A self-taught musician, David played the guitar, was an excellent drummer, and wrote music. He was the drummer with the band "6gig" and had just returned from California where they recorded their second CD, "Mind Over Mind" to be released this summer.
Surviving are his parents, Robert R. and Margaret D. Rankin of Lincolnville Beach; his girlfriend and companion, Karen Bean of Portland; four brothers, Robert J. Rankin of Lincolnville, Mark Rankin of Portland, Michael Rankin of Wisconsin, and William Rankin of Camden; one sister, Diane Rankin of NH; three nieces, Meghan McKee, Gini McKee, Maxine Rankin; three nephews, Matthew Rankin, Benjamin Rankin, and Robert W. Rankin; one great-niece, Kayla Rankin; and several aunts and cousins.
He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Rea L. and Maxine K. Rankin, and his maternal grandparents, Jim Duxbury and Corinne Duxbury Simpson
