If you are only recording guitar/bass tracks, I use this for my amps/guitar connection. If you need vocals and other stuff requiring a microphone, then it is a good option for only guitar but won't get you everything you need.

I don't have an interface but opted for direct in stuff so for a mic I got the Blue Yeti.

Not that this is what everyone wants to use but it works well for me.
