So, I've been playing the guitar for little over a year (almost 13 months), and I must say... this last year has been exciting! At first, I actually only wanted to learn to play very few songs, because those were all I ever really listened to, but in just the past month, my rate of progress has been amazing, in my opinion. Especially this last half year (since I started to listen to the great Rock bands of the 60's and forward) has been exciting. I'm still struggling with playing fast, but that's something I'm sure will come one day. I have (as can be read in another thread) recently started jamming with a band and have a chance for an eminent 3-song gig, even though I'll most likely find a band that better fits my style. I am fairly confident in my ability to use various techniques like bending and hammer-ons. In short, I've come a long way (and before writing this, I actually underestimated my own progress!), and I'm sure the next year will be just as interesting a chapter in my journey as a guitarist, or even better, as a musician.

Suddenly, my goal about playing a real gig (as in at least 1 hour) by the time I've played the guitar for 5 years seems so close! At this rate, there's a chance my dream of playing at venues frequently might actually become a reality!
