Hello, all you nice and usually helpful people :)

Does anyone know any up-beat rock-songs that aren't awfully hard to learn to play either? I've listened to a lot of the songs in the song-list, and some of them don't seem that up-beat, which is what I'm looking for now. What I'm looking for is something easy-to-learn, but still about as up-beat as "Knocking on Heaven's Door", "Sweet Child O' Mine" or "The Boys Are Back In Town" (it doesn't have to be those songs specifically, since they sound like quite a challenge). Any recommendations will be appreciated :)

I'm not sure how easy or difficult you are looking for but this is the first song that comes to mind when asked for easy and up-beat rock songs.

What I'm looking for more specifically is something that should be easy for beginners to play, something that Guitartricks.com would have under their Beginner Songs list, though it doesn't have to be on that list already. That's how difficult I'm looking for at the moment, since I still consider myself a beginner.

Hi Kasperow,

How 'bout ZZ Top-LaGrange? That one's a lot of fun too:

Oh OK. Yeah, that would be a little hard for beginners. Of course, you should play the stuff you like but in general, the MOST beginner types of songs you should play are just melodies since chords are much more difficult. Starting with melodies. I don't know any actual guitar songs that are total beginner level, off the top of my head. I could compose you one, though. :) The other option is to learn to play any slow melodies you know from classical music or other non guitar music.

If La Grange is within your skill level, that sounds quite good as well.

That actually sounds a lot cooler than I had thought it would. I'll look into the tutorials and give it a shot :)

Thanks for the suggestion, Neal.

Check out American Girl in the songs section - the chords (rythym) is fairly easy and thanks to the GT teacher, you can sound just like the recording pretty quickly. Also, check out other Tom Petty tunes. That cat knows how to rock!
Judge a band by the guitars they keep. If there are no Telecasters in play, move on.
