A few of the members here on Guitartricks tried to start a collaboration like this a while back. (the brainchild of Educatedfilm)

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Guitartricks/

It fizzled out after a few weeks of nothingness. Skee1 and I did a spin-off from the collab, a two minute blues track, but that was about all that happened.

Maybe you'll be the one to get us motivated again . . .

Is everyone going to be a guitar player? I'm asking because I know a keyboard player who is pretty good. I may ask him if he wants to work with you guys.

the idea was, that it was any instrument, any style, anyone can join... but that's selfish of me... It really depends on the other poeple... but having musicains playing other intrument would be helpful, I mean we've got plenty of guitarist...
I mean the yahoo e-ma-l /e-group thing is down at the mo, but if you go there it's all prety obvious... so far we've only had one collabiration, and that was Christoph and Skee1, and it was pretty much as success, just the we're not that motivated at the mo.. either poeple are busy (or i''m working on my own recording and dont want to mix the two).. but yeah, if you think you can motivate us again taht'd be great...

One of the main problems we had was the issue of which program we were going to use to record. I tried to get everyone to use ACID (the program, not the drug) because it's pretty cheap, intuitive, and produces .sfx files you can use to synch up the audio.

If we can decide on some standards and the general direction in which we want to work, then maybe we can all get motivated again . . .

Zacky . . . I think it would be great to have some other instruments. The more the merrier. (to coin a phrase)

Well, I know for a fact that Xoroque, the keyboard player, is going to want to use Modplug. Why? Because it's free :)

im still wonderin bout the shareware stuff. i had
some trial versions of some awhile back before i got
the sonar and sound forge and acid. it'd be lots
easier that way. i just cant remember the names
of em. was lookin online under online recording
studios but couldnt find em. i know they're out
there and i aint givin up. im a bassist. not bad
on guitar. lousy on keys but i can fake it. i write
lots o stuff and would be happy to add tracks to
anyones work or to help in return for help.by the
way, i hate the acid and sound forge. love the sonar.
midi only would suck. need real sound too ya know.
anybody got voice ?

Well, Modplug can export wav files, which can be used with Sound Forge, Cool Edit, and others. It's a really good program for specifically making music. Sound Forge is good for recording guitar, editing it with special effects and stuff, but it's not very good at putting it all together and getting it mixed right. Modplug is better for panning and sequencing everything with a song. You should check this program out. It's pretty confusing at first, but as you learn it you will never use anything else to create an entire song. I may put up a song that was made with it. It has a lot of guitar, even solos. Everything else in it is drum samples I made with Sound Forge and Cool Edit. It was tracked by another musician. I just remixed it, and butchered his guitar solos with distortion effects. It was metal, now I'd call it Industrial.

I got a truck lot of unfinished riffs. Metal stuff, I can play other things but I'm better at metal.

Anyone interested about hearing some samples, go to my website under projects.

BTW i have used DDclip in the past to mix wav or mp3 files. I don't know if it's still free but it was a good 4 track mixer. You could also put a video track, but I never used it.

Do you guys think it's possible to develop bad att and disrespect towards other people over nothing,or is my att justified? This is why I ask:
Vy,the guy who statred this thread, mentioned being a member of Tonos. Now,incase you didn't know,Tonos,to paraphrase the homepage,is an online musician's network founded by Oscar/Grammy winning lyricist Carole Bayer Sager, Grammy winning producer/composer David Foster and Grammy winning singer-songwriter/producer Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds.
Now,the first time I visited the site,it was something to do with a songwriting competition and I cant remember where I linked from.Anyway, they said the judges(when you submit your song)would be "hitmakers"(the quotes are theirs, lol)who produce people like Britney Spears and N'Sync and backstreet Boys and I dunno who else.Upon reading this,I simply pressed Alt F4.(for those unawre, doing this closes the window without you using the mouse to click close).
The reason I did this is I have zero respect for these people and groups as far as being musicians or talents go.Is that bad att or what?I mean,Britney, for instance, has been quoted as saying she lip-sings during her supposedly live concert(at least she did for this one instance I read about),and claiming it was her engineers helping her catch her breath or some crap like that! And have you heard you heard these boy bands?
Tell me if you think I need to check my att.,or if you think I was right about pressing Alt F4.And this post doesn't need change this thread(you guys have a knack for doing this).Just e-mail me.It's dwanjiru@yahoo.com .

I haven't gotten anything, and it shows that there's no one pending to join. So . . .

There isn't jack going on there anyway.
