When you saw the older guys, like Les PAUL, Jim HALL, Chet ATKINS, BB King, at tributes, you can see all those different guys coming from rock, hard rock, pop, and they just stay in awe at their mastery of the instrument.

I am sad when I see young guitarists spitting at country players or Blues players when their idols just worship them.

I have seen Steve VAI at a les Paul tribute, and Les was laughing his ass off when Vai did his tapping lick where he sweeps and taps with two right hand fingers. Les, as a joke, grabbed Vai's hand, and Vai did one of the legato licks he does in the style of Satch. Well, Les then took his guitar, and ripped Vai apart with the most unbelievable lick I have heard... You could see they were just enjoying themselves, competing in a very sane way, but VAI was way behind Les. Maybe Les isn't considered as the "hired gun" or "stunt guitarist" among all rock fans, but I know VAI knows who's best...

Les Paul was the Vai, Satch and Hendrix of his day, the father of most of the stuff we do today, most respected?, thats hard because we can tear them all down here.

Mr Lester Paul as stated above..

Mr Charles Berry

Mr "Howlin Wolf"/ Mr Hubert Sumlin

Mr "Scotty" Moore (+many more 50's players)

...who all POPULARISED the Electric guitar (and accesories) and those unsung bluesmen such as Lightnin Hopkins, Big Bill Broonzy,Leadbelly (etc, etc) who inspired them........

Without all these people we'd probably be listening to Kazoo Muzak...

...wait a minute isn't that what Boy bands play??
Accuracy,you say? hmm interesting concept..

First let me say yes to all above.
But please dont be upset because Im
picking Angus Young! Yea, I know.
But let me explain. When you can run, jump,
and flop around like a fish out of water
and never miss a beat. When you can lead
a band for 20years and not change and still
be popular Thats respect.

Probably Elvis Presley, OK he could only bang out a few chords, but how many great players picked up a guitar to be just like him, and pull birds....
