Hello,

I've been subscribing to Guitar tricks for year now. In that time I've only done Guitar fundamentals 1 and just kinda doing lessons here and there.
It didn't seen worth my while to ever visit the forum in the last year. BUT, I've been thinking this through.
I restarted again. I'm also learning Smoke on the Water by Deep Purple now.
I've decided that it's valuable to be part of the forum network as well. Here is why I say that.
I an a aspiring guitar player. I 'm 44 years old and grew up with the ambition to play like my favs, Eddie Van Halen, Ingwie Malmesteen, Randy Rhodes and Many others. I stopped playing due to life and the little common barriers that life will plague is all with. But I see in this website, the prospect of achieving what I setout to do when I was 12. To Rock! Maybe I will never be in a band, but if I can become an accomplished guitar player, I'll be able to rest in my grave at 99+ years old (or whatever)and say. ****in' aye! Least I can shred.
And so, what I'm looking to accomplish now (with the help of the AWESONE staff of Guitartricks), is to make similar friends with similar backgrounds and goals. My focus is on metal and classic rock. And I'm a regular daily part of the Guitar Tricks network of aspiring, and accomplished guitarist, and make new friends. Because what this website does, for us, is amazing!!!!

Hi McLarry
welcome to the forum. I am going to be 44 and grew up with the ambition to play like my favs, David Gilmour, The Edge, Mark Knopfler, Andy Summers and Paul Simon. Different background, I see, same ambitions. Though my aim is just playing by myslef for myslef.

Take care
Carmine

Regards,

cm

Hey Larry.

I'm 43, just over a year and a half ago. I have similar goals as you. I realize that I should have started this 30 years ago but, alas... I'm doing it now. :)

Hey McLarry! I discovered this thread today and just wanted to say to all of you 40+ rockers! You're lucky to have experienced the 80's as teenagers, I often times wish I had been born 15 years earlier just to grow up with Van Halen, Yngwie, and all the rest! Music is not quite the same anymore... where are all the amazing guitar solos????

Welcome to GT McLarry,

It is indeed very nice that the teachers actually take the time to respond to their students. (Christopher seems to be able to reply almost instantly for some reason and I suspect he does noet sleep at all, ohhh and if you want to see something funny, watch one of his classical video's, he is then suited up (that is style)).

Anyway.....drifting off again,

Welcome to the club.

Enjoy the good stuff here

I made a total count and in total there are 1329 tutorials and Tips & Tricks to go through so enough to do for a couple of years.

ā€¢ "Do not worry about your difficulties in Mathematics. I can assure you mine are still greater."
