Pinky and Ring finger

When I cup my fingers around the neck and try and hit chords, it is impossible for me to spread my pinky away from my ring finger. Is this because the muscles needed to do this are week from not really ever trying this movement or could it be I just cant move my finger that way. Any ideas to help me get that pinky moving.

I dont know how long you have been playing, but when I first started I had the same problem. My fingers were all stiff and they didnt like moving or stretching. I found that that eventually this works itself out. My advice: Just keep at it, maybe try out some scales to losen up your fingers. Im pretty sure most people go through this.:)
