Ummm, Gwen Stefani? Seriously, these are way too Pop for my collection and stick out like sore thumbs. And are unbeknownst to my usual cohorts. I'd never live it down!

I only feel safe to confess it in this community of musical appreciation. :D

Nothing from back in the 80's? NOTHING?

Ok fine... I'll fess up. Back in the 80's... Not mind you, I'd NEVER have admitted this for fear of the humiliation, I totally dug M.J's Thriller. Sad that his legacy was tarnished, makes me feel a bit at odds when I her his music now. None the less, Thriller was an amazing recording.

80's huh? You are digging back to the vinyl.

Is Rolling Stones' Emotional Rescue embarrassing enough... for us all?!?

I would have to say "God Bless The Child" written by Billie Holiday and Arthur Herzog Jr.
The cover was by Blood, Sweat and Tears on an album of the same name. Yup, It's on vinyl, I just have nothing to play it on.

I hate to say this, but this is nothing to feel guilty about. "Off the Wall" and "Thriller" are probably two of the greatest albums ever recorded. They were pop records that had amazing instrumentation, and they set the bar for albums to be produced there after. The players on both records are world class, and the songs are all classics across the board. Feel no shame in loving this album, regardless of what his reputation became. He will always be the King of Pop, and his albums will always be the milestones by which most, if not all, pop music is judged upon and compared too.

Simply my opinion, but shared by many I feel.

I have no shame in admitting that I love A-HA's album "Hunting High and Low." This featured the hit "Take On Me" which everyone knows, but this album really has some great production and music on it.

I also am ashamed to admit that my first CD I ever owned was "The Sign" by Ace of Base. Say what you will. :p

Ouch..I mean...really? I think this might call for a...'dude'? ;)

Being old, my first 45 was Elton John's Crocodile Rock. First long player (album) was Grand Funk's Shinin' On and my first CD was AC/DC's Back in Black...nothin' to be embarrassed about there.

...and for the record, ABBA rules! Not related but it's a guilty pleasure of everyone I know. I remember talking to a Slayer dude at a party in the 80's about how it's hard not to like ABBA. Just too danged catchy.

now I've got "Bill-lay..don't be a heerr-ro, don't be a foool any-mor-or-ore" stuck in my head, I like that song.

I agree with Off The Wall and Thriller (Steve Lukather on guitar), both are killer albums.

Sure you say that now, but... Would you have said that to you're high school buddies back in the day?

I hated and I mean hated 'Off the Wall' when I was in High School. One of the great things about getting old is that you can look back with a better appreciation and less of that mentality that sad you had to hate one thing (pop) if you like another (metal). It was like you had to choose side or something.

In addition Neal 'Billy Don't be a Hero', I would add Terry Jacks 'Seasons in the Sun' and add a further Gordon Lightfoot's 'Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald'...man the 70's could produce some melodramatic songs...Doh! Here's another; Michael Martin Murphy's 'Wildfire'

...man, it's like an endless stream.

I loved "off the wall" in high school, I wouldn't announce it but I wouldn't hide it either.

aahhh! 'wreck..' and 'wildfire', nice!

"Jackie Blue" & "Hot Child in the City"...two songs that won't stop playing in my head after I hear 'em.

psudeo echo did a great cover of funky town.

big country was pretty good. the tubes rock.

the smithereens 11 album wasnt to bad either.

come on, everybody like joan zit and the blackheads,

i mean joan jett and the blackhearts. i like her version

of wild thang, heard in the movie major league.

NOPE... Sorry man... Nothing doing... That is an UNACCEPTABLE entry. Huey Lewis and the News was KICK ASS. Loved them then, love them now. In fact... I'm going to see if Napster has them and give them a listening to.

Getting there, especially with the addition of Big Country... But, I know you can do even better.
