Hey everyone, didn't know where to post this but here it goes. Long story short, I am writing a business plan for one of my classes. My idea is basically a music school focused on Metal (can include Hard Rock or anything close to the genre). I need to sort of "prove" that Heavy Metal has a market in todays world to present my figures to investors. They want to see that it will actually have customers if the business starts up, so they need to see facts/figures that show it is a worth market to go after.

I am trying to get information on concert attendance, or even CD sales for Heavy Metal bands (or even Hard Rock). Any idea where I can get this? Im looking at the Billboard website but can't find anything. Any help would be really appreciated. Oh and any other ideas on how I can show this "proof" besides concert/cd sales?

Thanks!

Might not be all you're needing but it's a start.

Hi Hunter,

Check Pollstar -"Pollstar is the only trade publication covering the worldwide concert industry", they do concert sales and post them to their site.
I would check out Ozzfest related stuff cuz it's the biggest metal festival out now. Crue fest II is out or almost out and the Mayhem Festival - Slipknot has had huge sales.
Right now Pollstar is covering the AC/DC tour, Metallica and Iron Maiden.

That sounds like fun, good luck!
