Ive been learning a new song that requires an alternate tuning and a capo in the 2nd fret....

is it ok to leave the capo on the guitar when I am done playing or do I need to take it off after each sitting? I leave that guitar set up for that song and have another I keep in standard.

Didnt know if it had any bad effect on the neck or anything if it was left on too long

thanks

Hi Itsmesilly,

I think you're ok if it's not for too long. I think it would effect the strings and maybe the nut more than anything. I don't use capos too often so there may be a better opinion from the team.

Hi there, Itsmesilly,

I've never had a problem leaving the capo on for awhile. The only time you want to be absolutely sure its off is when you're going to put the guitar into a case.

What's the song? Sounds interesting!

Hi Lisa
I subscribe to Acoustic guitar magazine and every month they have several songs in there all tabbed out for you....Ive learned a few really great songs from there...
anyway
In April's edition I came across "Little Martha" music by Duane Allman and arranged by Mark Hanson...

I am new to the finger picking style so its going slower than I want of course but its helping me get used to picking and I happen to love the song

its all open D tuning and capo on the second fret

:O)
